Academic Lab

  • Four days per week.
  • Focus on academic intervention and extension.

Students are selected for Ac Lab in two ways:

  1. Locked into a multi-week group at the beginning of each intervention cycle.
  2. Selected by the requesting teacher in IC at least one day ahead of the attending session.

Staff Expectations for Student Selection

  1. Maintain two locked groups (either intervention or extension) during each intervention cycle.
  2. Select a reasonable number of students for days in which your locked groups are not meeting.
  3. Have all selections entered at least one day prior to the day of the session.
  4. Maintain an academic focus during all sessions.

Students who are not selected (through participation in a locked group or individual teacher request) will be placed into Study Hall the morning of that Ac Lab session.

Four "Data Days" will be held throughout the school year in order to determine locked intervention and extension groups.

The Intervention Cycle will be scheduled as follows:

  • SMS Boot Camp: August 21 - September 8, 2023 (students attend Advisories only)
  • Data Day 1: Tuesday, September 5, 2023
  • Intervention Cycle 1: September 11 - November 2, 2023
  • Data Day 2: Tuesday, October 24, 2023
  • Intervention Cycle 2: November 6 - December 20, 2023
  • SMS ReBoot: January 2 - 11, 2024 (students attend Advisories only)
  • Data Day 3: Tuesday, January 9, 2024
  • Intervention Cycle 3: January 16 - March 15, 2024
  • Data Day 4: Tuesday, March 5, 2024
  • Intervention Cycle 4: March 24 - May 23, 2024
