Extracurricular Activities
Students will receive a Clubs/Activities and Intramural Handbook at the start of the school year. This handbook contains an explanation of the Selvidge Activity program, as well as a list of the clubs and activities offered throughout the year. Please refer to this booklet for additional information.
Intramural programs play a vital role in the development of the middle school student. These activities allow for every student to participate in physically-active situations that provide important social interactions. Activities are designed for participation of any Selvidge student. The intramural programs consist of a wide range of both team and individual activities. Basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and other team sports develop team spirit and social responsibility. Individual activities allow students to exhibit their individual talents and develop lifetime skills.
Student Expectations for Extra-Curricular Activities, Clubs, and Intramurals
Students must report to their sponsor no later than 2:45 p.m. and must remain with their sponsor until the 3:45 p.m. dismissal bell. They then report directly to the lobby for pick up. All school rules and procedures apply when staying for after-school activities. Students staying for an activity must sign up before school or, at the latest, before noon. Students who are not under staff supervision or signed up to stay after school must report directly to the office.
Students are expected to keep their academic grades above failing grades. A student may not be eligible to stay if the student has two or more failing grades in classes. Grades could be checked throughout the year by administration or activity/club sponsors.
