Lunch, Food, and Drink

Cafeteria

The cafeteria is your school's dining room and one of the first places people see as they walk into the school. Students are expected to use the cafeteria and behave in a manner which would be acceptable in a nice restaurant or as a guest in someone's home. In order to keep it as clean and inviting as possible, everyone who uses the cafeteria is asked to keep it clean.

Students may purchase breakfast and lunch daily by paying cash or through the online lunch program. Parents may send in a check, payable to Selvidge Middle School (with "Cafeteria" in the Memo), for their students' lunches. Students can then access their account through a personal identification number in order to purchase food in the cafeteria.

Breakfast is sold every morning beginning at 7:15 a.m. The cafeteria lines will close at 7:40 a.m. each morning.

To keep our cafeteria clean and orderly, we have adopted the following guidelines:

  • Students will enter the cafeteria in an orderly manner and move to sit at a table.
  • Once students are seated, tables will be dismissed to move to the food lines.
  • If students forget their lunch or lunch money, they should see one of the adults in the cafeteria for help. Do not borrow money from other students.
  • Students should be in their seats unless buying food or cleaning up. Students may receive a week or more assigned seat in the cafeteria for repeated violations.
  • Cafeteria supervisors will remind students to clean their table area before leaving the cafeteria.
  • A cafeteria supervisor will individually dismiss tables after the table has been cleaned and the lunch shift is over.
  • Students who leave trash at their table could be assigned one week of clean-up duty.
  • For safety, glass containers may not be brought into the cafeteria.
  • Unwrapped food may not be brought out of the cafeteria.

Food and Drink Guidelines

Food or drink should not be opened in or carried through the hallways. Teachers may give permission for students to have a snack in the classroom but will designate specific requirements and require students to be sensitive to allergy needs.
