Activities
The student activities program is designed to provide vital experiences that supplement the regular academic program. The student activities program gives direct experience in the development of character, personality and citizenship. There are four primary purposes of this program, embracing social changes and needs of contemporary society as well as individual needs.
Activities are held weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (and some Thursdays) from 2:40 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. Activity forms are open for sign-ups the Friday before the activity through 10:00 a.m. the morning of the activity.
Activities will not be offered on Early Release Days. Off-campus activities will require a separate permission form in addition to the general permission form. Some of the activities may require a small fee in order to participate; see club descriptions for details.
Students will need to indicate their transportation needs in this form as well. Bus transportation is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. All students involved in these activities must be off campus by 3:45 p.m.
Here are some things you need to know before signing up:
- Please have a parent/guardian complete the After School Permission Slip one time for the school year.
- Only one activity a day can be chosen. Also, some of the activities are by invitation only. If the student is not a member of that particular club, they should not sign up for it.
- Regardless of what activity your child is participating in (even if it is an invitation-only event), they MUST sign up using the form on the Activities Page.
- Students will also need to indicate their transportation needs in this form. The Activity Bus is available on a first come, first serve basis, and has a limited number of seats available.
- If you are picking up your child after activities, please have a plan on where you will meet and arrive by 3:45 p.m.

After-School Program Student Participation Guidelines
- Appropriate conduct and a cooperative attitude are expected at all times. All Selvidge rules found in the Student Handbook are in effect before, during, and after intramural/club activities.
- Students must follow the fundamental rules and regulations for each activity.
- Students are expected to be on time, at the proper location, and with appropriate equipment and attire when participating in an activity.
- Students are responsible for their own equipment (tennis shoes, gloves, etc.) and should store them properly. Selvidge does not assume responsibility for students' personal possessions.
- All injuries should be reported to the activity sponsor immediately.
- Participation in inter-school and student/faculty games depends upon regular and consistent attendance and involvement in designated activities.
- After-school detentions take precedence over activity involvement. Once a student has been assigned three (3) after-school/lunch detentions in one (1) semester, they are no longer eligible to stay after school for activities. In-school suspension and out-of-school suspension will forfeit the student's privilege to participate in after-school activities that day.
Activity sponsors or coordinators reserve the right to remove individuals due to excessive misconduct.
